Well … Iran bans sales of Barbie Dolls

TEHRAN - Iran’s moral police raided the sale of Barbie dolls all over the country. The move is an implementation of government policies that prohibit the sale of Iran’s Barbie doll.
Meanwhile, the policy was intended to protect the public from the threat of western culture that erode Islamic values.

“About three weeks ago, the moral police came to our store, asked us not to sell Barbie dolls,” said the toy shop owner in northern Tehran, was quoted as saying alarabiya.net, Tuesday (17 / 1).

Iran’s spiritual leader, Ali Khamenei had banned the sale of Barbie dolls Mattel production of U.S. firms, in 1996. According to Khamenei, Barbie dolls un-Islamic and potentially damaging social and cultural Iran sets.

In 2002, the Iranian government agreed the sales of Barbie doll with a note that should reflect the culture of Iran.

Now, the Iranian government from three weeks ago issued a policy to ban sale of Barbie dolls. As a result, many store owners who clandestinely sell Barbie dolls.

Toy store manager who declined to give his name said later it was still selling Barbie in a hooded appearance. ”We were secretly sold to avoid a police raid,” he said.

A housewife, Franaz, 38, said it was difficult to find knick-knacks smelling Barbie doll for three weeks. He was finally found out, that why it is difficult to find knick-knacks Barbie dolls have been banned because of its sales.

“Unfortunately, my son liked Barbie,” she said.
